How to Embed a YouTube Short on Your Website

Published Tue. Jul. 08, 2025

Embedding a YouTube Short on your website can increase engagement, show off your brand's personality, and improve SEO through rich media content. But here's the thing-embedding a Short isn't quite the same as embedding a regular YouTube video.

In this post, we'll walk you through why you should embed Shorts, the exact steps to do it, and a few tips to make your embed look great on any site.

You can go to the Short on YouTube and click the Share button to copy the URL.

Note: YouTube Shorts use a slightly different URL format than regular videos, but they still have the same video ID structure.

Currently, YouTube doesn't provide an "Embed" button directly from Shorts. So you'll need to manually modify the URL.

Take the video ID from the Shorts URL and plug it into this format:

https://www.youtube.com/embed/VIDEO_ID

Now, take the URL, and use it as the source (src) in an iframe

<iframe
  width="100%" height="500"
  src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/A30INOaUfAs"
  title="How to Create a WordPress Child Theme"
  frameborder="0"
    allow="accelerometer;
      autoplay;
      clipboard-write;
      encrypted-media;
      gyroscope;
      picture-in-picture;
      web-share"
  allowfullscreen>
</iframe>

You can now paste the iframe anywhere you use HTML on your site

If you already use Shorts for marketing or content creation, make the most of them by placing them front and center on your homepage, product pages, blog posts, or landing pages.
